Estimado/as
Les recuerdo que el Jueves 10 de Junio a las 10:00 hrs, tendremos seminario en el Departamento de Astronomía de la Universidad de Chile.
Speaker: Marcelo Mora
Instituto de Astrofísica, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile
Title: An interacting view of NGC 1427A
Abstract: NGC 1427A is a dwarf galaxy located at the outskirts of the Fornax
Galaxy Cluster. Its location, shape, and clear star
formation events have made this galaxy a nearby laboratory of how dwarfs
are affected by the dense environment of the galaxy group. The
origin of its star formation burst is unclear: It has been proposed to
be due to gravitational interaction (i.e. merger?) or ram pressure
stripping. Here I will show, in an interactive way, my latest result of
our MUSE integral field observations. I will present the advantages of
this analysis approach, drawing my final conclusion about the nature of
this galaxy. Finally, if time allows, I would like to present
further examples applied to other galaxies as work in progress.
