Dear Students,

For today's lessons (September 26th.)

(1) The PPT file for 'Lessons 7-8: Elevator Speech Activities (I & II)' can be found in the ‘Material Docente’ section

(1.1) In 'Lessons 7-8: Elevator Speech Activities (I & II)' you will find the Elevator Speech structure, some exercises that deal with the evaluation of this structure, and a space for you to create your own Elevator Speech script, to be used when recording your video.

(2) The PDF file for the Elevator Speech's Rubric which can be found in the ‘Material Docente’ section.

(2.1) In this 'Rubric document' you will find all the criteria taken into account when the teacher evaluates this activity.

(3) The PDF file for the Elevator Speech's Examples which can be found in the 'Material Docente' section.

(3.1) In this PDF 'Examples' document you will find some Elevator Speech scripts made by students from FACSO. The idea that lies behind the reading of this document is that it may provide you with some 'more down-to-earth' examples for you to take as a reference in your own script's sketching

(4) The Elevator Speech evaluation can be found in the 'tareas' section. You must upload your Elevator Speech video, ideally, before Oct. 17th.

For our next lesson (October 3rd.)

(1) We will be working on our  third lesson which will be divided into two parts as we already know, (a) Linguistic (some grammatical structures in communicational contexts for the most part and autonomous work for all of the asynchronous evaluations) and (b) Communicative (video debates)

(1.1) For the second part of this next lesson, please, watch the following video (it contains English Subtitles), The Science of Early Childhood Development’, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLiP4b-TPCA

(2.1) Once you have watched it, please think about the following questions:

(2.1.1) According to what Jack Shonkoff (Director of Harvard's 'Center of the Developing Child') has said, how would you interpret in your own words and under the view of your academic speciality the following statement: 'The brain is prepared to be shaped by experience'.

(3) We will also deal with our sessions working on the '5-Paragraph Essay: Introductory Paragraph' activity, which deals with our first essay activity which will be divided into 3 parts: Introduction, Body and Conclusion.

In case of doubt, please do not hesitate to contact me back,

Best Regards
