Hello everyone,

Today in class, we worked on a practice mock test. We practiced different ways of testing items and procedures, that might show up in our final exam.

After that, we looked at how we did in the mock test and I gave some quick advice and answered questions about the exercises.

Then, you received feedback on the last e-mail and and checked our grades and attendance. Finally, I sent extra practice materials via email (check your email to find an extra practice test and examples of great performance on speaking tests).

If you have any questions, just let me know.

Best wishes.

JM

Towards the conclusion of the class, we reviewed homework assignments from the previous Friday—specifically, activities 1-5. Your diligence in completing these tasks is commendable. Please be aware that we still have a few activities pending review, excluding activity 6 from the handout, which does not require further attention.

Hey there,

Today in class, we started by talking about how we felt about the presentation activity. We considered ideas like switching to online classes, the unexpected things that happened last week, and how challenging the Presentation Assignment has turned up to be. So, we decided to move the presentation to next Monday, October 30th, no matter what.

Then, we talked about words and phrases for saying sorry and looked at the things we studied online, last Friday. We learned how to say sorry and give excuses in writing, like in WhatsApp messages. At the end, we thought about how to make excuses in different situations, and I have requested you to think about it for our next class.

To finish, we practiced some key parts of your presentations and I gave each of you some personal tips.

Thanks for your participation in today's class, and I'm excited to hear your talks next week!

Have a lovely holiday and take care!

See you.

Professor Masías O.

Dear students,

In today's class, we got deeper into the topic of offering apologies; marking the start of the unit titled "Apologizing." This unit aims at developing comprehensive skills for apologizing, responding to complex situations, expressing regret, empathy, and more.

Our first activity was a vocabulary review with practical exercises and a listening comprehension activity (the material can be found on U-Cursos). The recording of this part of the class can be found in the platform.

Due to contingency, I've provided a Handout so that everybody has the chance of further practicing today's contents. This Handout will be checked at the beginning of our next session and is mandatory. The material is hosted on U-Cursos, and the PDF is titled "LearnEnglish-Speaking-A2-Apologising.pdf" (Source: https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/skills/writing/a2-writing/messaging-cancel-plan ). It contains integrated reading and writing activities.

At the end of the session, we individualy practiced for the upcoming presentation, which is scheduled for October 23rd, and constitutes 25% of your final grade. The rubric for the presentation is available on the platform, along with detailed instructions and a handout that covers academic presentation format and useful phrases. I strongly recommend making productive use of this material.

I'm here for any questions or clarifications, and I look forward to seeing you next week. Don't forget about your assignments!

Warm regards,

Professor Masías O.
