Dear Students,
For today's lessons (October 17th.)
(1) The PPT file for 'Lessons 13-14: Essay Writing Activities (V & VI)' can be found in the ‘Material Docente’ section
(1.1) In 'Lessons 13-14: Essay Writing Activities (III & IV)' you will find the Concluding Paragraph structure, some exercises that deal with evaluating this structure, and a space for you to create your Concluding Paragraph and Proofreading the ones your classmates' create.
(2) The .doc file for the Essay Writing: Concluding Paragraph Examples which can be found in the 'Material Docente' section.
(2.1) In this .doc 'Examples' document you will find some Concluding Paragraphs made by students from FACSO. The idea that lies behind the reading of this document is that it may provide you with some 'more down-to-earth' examples for you to take as a reference in your own script's sketching
(3) The .doc files for the 'Essay: Conclusion Guide' and 'Essay: Editing Guide' can be found in the 'Material Docente' section
(3.1) In these .doc files you will find the English Program version of how to create the Concluding Paragraphs and how to proofread and edit your whole Argumentative Essay. Also, you will be able to find several examples and exercises that will help you understand its format and structure.
(4) The 'Essay Writing Activity #1' evaluation can be found in the 'tareas' section. You must upload your Essay, ideally, before Oct. 24th.
For our next lesson (October 24th.)
(1) We will be working on our third lesson which will be divided into two parts as we already know, (a) Linguistic (some grammatical structures in communicational contexts for the most part and autonomous work for all of the asynchronous evaluations) and (b) Communicative (video debates)
(1.1) For the second part of this next lesson, please, watch the following video (it contains English Subtitles), ‘The Science of Early Childhood Development’, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLiP4b-TPCA
(2.1) Once you have watched it, please think about the following questions:
(2.1.1) According to what Jack Shonkoff (Director of Harvard's 'Center of the Developing Child') has said, how would you interpret in your own words and under the view of your academic speciality the following statement: 'The brain is prepared to be shaped by experience'.
(3) We will also deal with our sessions working on our 'Statistics and Data' unit. Among other activities, we will be working on describing and reporting data, statistical change, etc. These units' work is directed towards the creation of your 'Wiki Article' activity.
In case of doubt, please do not hesitate to contact me back,
Best Regards
