Special Announcement

Dear Students,

This is a friendly reminder that tells you: 'Please consider bringing to every single lesson the following materials',

1. Bring your laptop, touchpad, notebook, etc. every single lesson (if possible)
1.1 If you cannot bring these, please be prepared to write in class (since we will be working under a workshop format)

2. Consider that we will be constantly having some little conversational exercises, so please, keep in mind that you will have to make arguments, and construct and give your opinions based on a premise (in the form of video essays, discussions, etc.)

3. It is strongly advised that you make use of monolingual dictionaries (English-English), only in case you don't understand the meaning of a word, refer to a bilingual dictionary (English-Spanish)

Thanks a lot for reading,
See you all next Tuesday, January 2
Best Regards

Information for next lessons

Dear Students,

My name is René Larenas Moyano, and I will be this semester’s English 'IV', Summer Course teacher. I want to tell you that you are very welcome to this course that will (hopefully) begin next Tuesday, January 2nd, from 10:15 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., in Classroom '501-B', 5th. floor (Artes, Alfonso Letelier Llona).

Now I will explain what is coming for us this semester,

(1) We will have #2 lessons from Monday til Friday in Classroom 501-B:

1st Lesson: 10:15 am - 11:45 am
2nd Lesson: 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

(2) For this Tuesday (January 2nd) the very first lesson will be dealing with administrative issues, while the second (January 2nd) onwards, will be focused on developing productive linguistic abilities (i.e. Speaking and Writing)

(2.1) Administrative Issues means; (2.2.1) Evaluations, (2.2.2) Evaluation dates, (2.2.3) Rubric criteria, (2.2.4) Rules and Regulations [Attendance], (2.2.5) Lesson Format and Teaching Methodology

(3) These lessons will be exclusively dedicated to you to work on some basic elements that will help with your communicative skills [Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking]. The idea is that you take this English course as a workshop, not a lecture

(3.1) We will, also, begin most of the lessons by having a little discussion [for the sake of practising your language productive skills] about a video I bring to the class.

(3) I beg you to please come to every single lesson you can and try to be on time [be as punctual as you can]

(4) Once every lesson is finished, I will upload 2 items to this platform,

(4.1) The teaching material (PPT file and an audio file), if required, and
(4.2) A 'Novedades' notification for you to have a more accurate description of what we will be doing in the next lesson

(5) Any questions you may have, either in English or Spanish, please feel free to write back. Answers will be delivered typically in English

Best Regards
